GSIST-UPR/ SIS-UTK Distance Education Student Exchange PDF Imprimir E-Mail

As part of the Cross-cultural Collaborative Leadership Project for LIS Education established between GSIST-UPR (Graduate School of Information Sciences and Technologies, University of Puerto Rico) and SIS-UTK (School of Information Sciencies, Universidad de Tennessee, Knoxville) a select group of GSIST students can participate in SIS-UTK distance courses.  This is a unique opportunity for our students to represent the University of Puerto Rico within an international learning community and to expand their own personal, professional and academic horizons.  More information: GSIST-UPR/ SIS-UTK Distance Education Student Exchange's information

Requirements and Procedures

1. For applicants

a. Academic standing - Applicants must be in good academic standing, enrolled in the GSIST – UPR master’s degree program and have completed the curriculum core requirements by the start date of the requested UTK courses.

b. Language proficiency – Students’ communication, listening comprehension, reading and writing skills in English must be at a level sufficient to meet the demands of graduate studies.

c. Technical requirements – UTK distance education courses utilize the Centra 7 and BlackBoard platforms.  Students will receive training, but they must provide their own computer and internet connection with the following specifications : (forthcoming)

2. For students enrolled in the program

a. Registration – Students must register for the courses at the GSIST-UPR.  Standard University of Puerto Rico fees will apply.  Students will not have to pay the University of Tennessee for this course.
